Connections Peer Support Executive Director Fred Poisson wins Volunteer NH Award
CONCORD– Fred Poisson, the Executive Director of Connections Peer Support, was recently awarded a Spirit of NH Award in the adult category from Volunteer NH. Volunteer NH is a nonprofit organization that aims to solve local challenges through volunteerism.
Over 100 volunteers across the state of New Hampshire were recognized for all of their hard work and dedication to community service.
On top of his work with Connections Peer Support, Poisson volunteers with Connor’s Climb Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides suicide prevention education to trusted adults within the State of NH. Poisson has facilitated numerous trainings to different school districts across the state, and has helped Connor’s Climb expand their reach significantly.
Lindsey Gilbert, executive director of Connor’s Climb, noted that their organization “Quite literally couldn’t do it without him [Poisson].”
“For me, these trainings are important because they allow a real opportunity to address mental health challenges early on, and to change the culture around having challenging conversations,” said Poisson about why he values the Connor's Climb trainings.
