About Us

The Library Restaurant is an upscale restaurant and elegant private events space in a historic building in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where seven presidents have dined. Built in 1887, The Library is one of the Northeast’s most architecturally beautiful dining experiences.

Located in the grand historic Rockingham Hotel—just steps from downtown Portsmouth—the dining rooms feature a vaulted mahogany ceiling, three fireplaces, a martini lounge, and seasonal outdoor dining. A private dining space beneath an ornate painted ceiling fresco offers a stunning setting for celebrations.

The Library also offers an in-house florist for elevated décor and memorable take-home touches, along with live jazz on Wednesday nights.
