The Hoot was started by Portsmouth's second poet laureate, Robert Dunn, and continues to thrive 25 years later and is one of New Hampshire’s longest running poetry readings!
When: The first Wednesday of each month from September to June starting at 7 p.m. 
Where: Laney & Lu at 360 Route 1 Bypass, Unit 104, Portsmouth NH. Enjoy ample free parking in the public West End Yard Parking Lot.
Hoot Format: There are one or two featured readers and an open mic immediately following. Bring a poem and be ready to read. Open mic participants may read one poem and be no longer than three minutes. First time readers get preference in the open mic.

Did you know that The Hoot is one of the only readings in the state that pays its featured readers? Featured readers get $125 each for a 30 minute reading.
