Nicholas Roes
Nicholas Roes is an American Contemporary Painter based in New York. Roes’ paintings are influenced by his upbringing on a dairy farm, his Mennonite family and his work in agriculture, viticulture and education. His works are contemporary interpretations of the intersection of the natural world and the built environment, often painting disused agricultural structures or capturing coastal moments. Roes’ paintings often employ hard-edge techniques and simple palettes, condensing visual information into still, stylized scenes. He finds inspiration in the work of Edward Hopper, Charles Sheeler, Edmund Lewandowski, and various color field artists.
Nicholas Roes’ work has been featured in a handful of juried Northeastern Art exhibitions and he has several works in private collections. He is currently based in the Finger Lakes Region of New York.
Lisa Young
Lisa lives and paints in Stratham, New Hampshire. The surrounding coastline and expansive saltwater marshes provide endless inspiration for her artwork in oil and watercolor. Her paintings live where abstract and realism overlap. Sometimes pieces end up conceptual, while other scenes demand a higher dose of realism.
“That pendulum swings painting to painting, but the end goal never changes. I strive to infuse every composition with a sense of calm and a feeling of being present. Art is my therapy, so I like to imagine the tranquility I feel while painting being passed along to anyone who enjoys my work.”
Lisa and her husband, Rob, enjoy scouting new places to paint and fly fish in New England. They also enjoy hiking with their two energetic dogs, Ella and Maisy.
