ACTIVE: Rescue Run: Race for Marine M...
Description
Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals features a 5k chip-timed trail race and un-timed walk to benefit Seacoast Science Center’s Marine Mammal Rescue Program. Now in its 15th year, this popular race follows the 5k cross-country trail route through Odiorne Point State Park, featuring varied terrain—you’ll run through the forest, by the rocky shore, across a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications—and enjoy sweeping vistas of the Gulf of Maine and Little Harbor.
Our run is the largest annual fundraising event to benefit our Marine Mammal Rescue program. We will cheer you on to the finish line as you support SSC’s wildlife conservation and educational outreach work. The first 150 registrants for the 5k receive a free official race t-shirt. This year’s official race t-shirt is a moisture-wicking performance short-sleeve shirt, available in adult sizes only. Race shirts are also available for purchase for $15 during the registration process. The Kids Fun Run starting at 9:40 am features a 300-yard dash and a half mile run for children ages 12 and under. Every child that participates in the Fun Run wins a prize. Following the race join Blue Ocean Society at 11am for a beach cleanup in Odiorne. Information to register with Blue Ocean can be found on our event page. There will be a light runner’s breakfast and fun ocean-themed activities for kids post race. Please remember that dogs are not allowed in Odiorne Point State Park. An adult must accompany children aged 12 and under on the 5K.
