Cooper is a vice president and economist in the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Research Department\, where he heads the Household Decision-making group. He regularly contributes macroeconomic analysis to aid in the monetary policy deliberations of the Bank's president. His main research interests involve household behavior\, although he also focuses on topics related to monetary policy and the labor market.\n\n\n\nHis recent work has centered on the effect of credit access on consumption\, the effect of fluctuations in bank lending on consumption\, the effect of monetary policy on house price appreciation\, and the effect of minimum wage changes on inflation and consumer spending. He is currently working on projects involving the impact of monetary policy shocks on consumption\, how economic conditions impact retirement decisions\, and the impact of the pandemic-related stimulus payments on expenditures.\n\n\n\nAbout Mike Cote\n\n \nMike Cote is a veteran journalist and editor based in Manchester\, with more than three decades of experience in regional journalism. He currently serves as New Hampshire Editor at Yankee Publishing\, where he oversees New Hampshire Magazine and NH Business Review. In this role\, he leads editorial teams and contributes to in-depth business\, economic\, and community coverage across the state.\n\nPrior to joining Yankee Publishing\, Cote spent more than 10 years at the New Hampshire Union Leader\, serving as a business and city editor and later as senior editor\, while also writing a weekly business column. His career has spanned newsrooms in New Hampshire\, Colorado\, and Florida. A Manchester native\, Cote holds degrees from the University of New Hampshire and the University of Colorado Boulder\, serves on the board of Make-A-Wish New Hampshire\, and co-hosts the Down to Business podcast.
